Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most from families exploring ABA services.
Questions and Answers
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based, scientific therapy focused on helping individuals learn meaningful skills as well as reducing challenging behaviors.
At Spectrum of Independence, we use ABA to create personalized programs that build practical skills — including social skills, daily living routines, communication, and vocational readiness. Every program is individualized and tracked with data, so you can see your loved one's progress over time.
Spectrum of Independence serves adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum. Our services are designed for individuals who are working toward developing functional skills, building social connections, and increasing their independence in everyday life.
Services are provided wherever they're most meaningful — in the home, in the community, at job sites, or through telehealth. We believe skills should be practiced in the settings where they'll actually be used, which is why we bring our services to you rather than asking you to come to a clinic.
Absolutely. Caregiver training is a core component of our services. We work directly with parents, family members, and other caregivers to teach evidence-based strategies that support skill-building at home and in daily life. When families are equipped with the right tools, progress happens faster and lasts longer.
Because we are a boutique service, we are actively working to become credentialed with insurance providers as the need arises. If you feel Spectrum of Independence is a good fit for you, we will begin the credentialing process with your insurance provider if it has not already been started. Private pay options are also available.
Getting started is simple. First, reach out to us by email or through our contact form. We'll schedule a brief phone consultation to learn about your family's needs and answer any questions. From there, Liz will conduct a comprehensive in-person assessment. Based on the assessment, she'll develop a personalized treatment plan, and services begin. The whole process is collaborative and designed to move at a pace that's comfortable for your family.
Session length depends on each individual's needs and goals. There's no one-size-fits-all answer. After the initial assessment, Liz will recommend a schedule — including session length and frequency — that's tailored to your loved one and your family's situation.
Our programs can target a wide range of skills depending on the individual's needs. Common focus areas include communication, daily living routines (like cooking, hygiene, and household tasks), social and relationship skills, vocational readiness and job skills, community navigation, and behavior support. Goals are always personalized and driven by what matters most to the individual and their family.
Simply reach out to us by email at liz@so-independence.com or fill out our contact form. There's absolutely no commitment required for the initial conversation — it's just a chance to talk about your family's needs and see if we might be a good fit.
