Liz Hintz, M.S., BCBA, LBA
Founder of Spectrum of Independence
A passion for empowering independence
Liz is a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) in the state of Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and her Master of Science from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Liz believes that supporting individuals on the autism spectrum means supporting the whole family — with compassion, laughter, and joy. Through her years in early intervention across clinics, schools, homes, and community settings, she developed a strong commitment to supporting individuals at every stage of life.
Inspired to expand that support beyond early childhood, Liz founded Spectrum of Independence. She is passionate about helping adolescents and adults build meaningful skills that promote autonomy, confidence, and independence in daily life.
Advocacy, empowerment, and real skills
Liz is especially passionate about daily living skills, social and relationship skills, and vocational skills — the practical abilities that open doors to independence and meaningful participation in the community. She believes every individual deserves access to the tools and support they need to pursue their own version of a full life.
Every intervention Liz creates is deeply individualized. She doesn't believe in cookie-cutter approaches — because no two people are the same, no two programs should be either. Goals are always shaped by the person's strengths, interests, and aspirations, developed in close collaboration with their family.

A breadth of experience across settings
Before founding Spectrum of Independence, Liz spent years providing early intervention ABA services across a wide range of settings — including clinical environments, schools, private homes, and community locations. This breadth of experience gave her a deep understanding of how different environments shape learning and behavior.
That real-world perspective is central to her approach today. Liz knows that skills learned in a clinic don't always translate to the kitchen, the bus stop, or the workplace. That's why she delivers services where life actually happens — and designs programs that prepare individuals for the situations they'll face every day.
The person behind the practice
Outside of work, Liz treasures time with her family and friends. You'll often find her exploring thrift shops for hidden gems, diving into a good book, or enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day. She brings the same warmth, curiosity, and joy to her professional life that she values in her personal one — because she believes that genuine connection is at the heart of meaningful support.
